How to Prestige in Crownhold

Prestige is Crownhold’s permission to start over stronger. You earn prestige points during a run, open an unlock tree (often from a monument or book), and buy permanent bonuses that survive the reset. Some nodes apply immediately in a confusing way if you only opened the book; others explicitly say you must end the run. This page is how to prestige without throwing a good map into the void. Use the prestige planner as the shopping list and prestige unlocks as the roster.

When to prestige

Do not prestige in the first fog clear. You want at least one full pass through the documented workplaces — fields, monastery, guild, villages, royal court, university, harbor — or a clear stall (wood capped, discovery starved, influence idle). Playthroughs of the demo treated expansion 6 as a natural “you have seen the loop” beat. If the monument is up and upgrades on the current map are mostly maxed, a reset is productive. If you still have cheap Crop Rotation or an empty scholar slot, spend those first.

A common accident: clicking the statue opens the book, the UI feels like a game-over, and Escape → Resume (or a full title-and-continue) is the fix when you only wanted to look. Controls covers that. Confirm “end your run” only when the prompt says expansion progress will rewind.

What the tree looks like

Tier 1 nodes in recorded runs cost on the order of three prestige each and include gold production, stone production, scholar production, extra gold while clicking, and King is Watching (hover a building to boost it). Auto-granted click gold on a new run also appears. Tier 2 in the same footage asked for more prestige (around seven to unlock the column) and included Royal Strength (more click power), Royal Servants (auto-clicks the castle once per second), wood production, influence, research speed, and a bonus for buildings with more than 60 peasants.

Exact costs can shift with balance patches after the 17 August 2026 launch. Treat the names and roles as stable; treat the numbers as “this is what early videos showed.” Re-check in-game before you spend your only seven points.

What to buy first

Buy the production you hated last run. If wood blocked the harbor, Royal Woods (or the wood node in your tree) is the correct pride purchase. If you were glued to the keep, Royal Servants is quality of life that also speeds every future opening. King is Watching is a multiplier on whatever you are already hovering — strong once you understand how to play. The 60-peasant threshold rewards committing staff instead of sprinkling one worker everywhere; pair it with village upgrades from buildings.

Do not prestige just to “see combat.” Warfare is not the prestige screen. Prestige is economy meta. Sieges, when they appear after expansion 10, have their own tab — read siege and warfare instead of resetting a map that just grew an arsenal.

After the reset

A clean prestige sends you back to an earlier expansion with bonuses on. Rebuild click power only if it is still cheap; Royal Servants may make the opening clicker stretch shorter. Re-staff peasants quickly so idle gold appears, then race to the workplace that your new nodes buff. The early-game build still applies — prestige does not delete the need for scribes.

If a reset felt weaker than the last map, you spent on a node that does not match the gate. The next run, pick wood or servants instead of another gold percent. Short incremental games punish fashionable spends more than they punish slow ones.

Read Getting Started if you forgot the opening ladder after a reset. Read trade and exploration if your second run’s job is hegemony. Launch context is on launch notes. Steam also names Prestige Tier 6 and Gold Prestige Tier 22 — rare late ceilings on late-game progression. Do not hoard run-two points for those screenshots.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Crownhold questions.

Does prestige delete villages forever?

A confirmed end-run reset winds expansion progress back. Bonuses stay. Do not confirm if you only opened the book to look.

Is Royal Servants worth it?

Yes for almost every second run. Auto-clicking the keep removes the worst of the opening grind and pairs with click-gold nodes.

Can I prestige without finding the monument?

The documented path uses the monument or unlock book. If your build hides it, keep expanding until the statue or book appears on the map.
