Crownhold Map: Fog, Islands, and Named Places

How to read the pixel realm — including the western tomb, missing trees, and late names like Ironbridge.

Crownhold Map and Realm Guide

Crownhold is a hover-panel incremental that happens to be a map. Fog peels when you pay expansion bills. Villages sprout as unique hamlets. Ships punch holes in the sea and drop countries onto the diplomatic layer. This map page is how to look at that picture without treating every missing tree as a wipe. Pair it with trade and exploration for ships, walkthrough for the first six expansions, and siege and warfare once Steam starts naming passes and walls.

Steam discussions after launch asked three map questions louder than the rest: what is in the top right, where did the towns and grass go, and where are the trees. Demo refugees in particular expected forestry art the moment the keep existed. Retail still gates wood. The map is allowed to look empty until the guild learns forestry.

Fog, expansions, and what “empty” means

Early Crownhold is a keep in a cloud. Expansion 1 (Beyond the Walls, near 99% of tracked players by 20 August 2026) is the first peel. Later bills peel more. Empty grass is often “you have not paid the next banner,” not a deleted save. If the camera is zoomed out, hamlets and field texture can drop out of the readable layer — pan and zoom before you file a bug. If towns vanish at a zoom you used yesterday, that is closer to a client glitch: verify files, then troubleshooting.

Villages are not fog. They are stone sinks that spawn unique layouts and walking figures. Skip them when the royal court or pier needs the stone. Build them when you want the map to feel inhabited. That feedback is part of why the game charms people, and part of why a missing hamlet after a zoom feels like the realm died.

Western island and the Dynasty Tomb

Dynasty Tomb Unlocked is discover the Dynasty Tomb on the western island. The blurb is Steam’s, not a wiki coordinate. Public completion sat near 95.9% in the 20 August snapshot — this is an opening discover, not a secret raid. You need the map to reveal west: expedition ships and discovery, the same verbs as trade and exploration. Sail when you have ships. Do not wait for expansion 10.

If you cannot find west, pan. Crownhold’s camera is mouse-first. A tomb that 19 in 20 players have already found is almost never “missing content.” It is a camera that never left the keep.

Trees, grass, and forestry

Wood arrives late in the teaching chain. Recorded openings unlock forestry with a large knowledge dump at the university; laborers then produce wood as well as stone, and the countryside starts looking cut. Demo players posting “WHERE ARE THE TREES” after jumping into retail are usually still pre-forestry. Finish how to play until the guild has a wood line. Prestige wood nodes on the next run if timber was the harbor gate — prestige planner.

If trees, grass, or towns disappear after they existed in the same session, treat it as a render or save hitch: restart, verify files, turn off scrolling menu backgrounds (the v1.0.1 parallax toggle). We do not publish a hex edit. Mail [email protected] with the build number if a restart does not restore the layer.

Top right of the map

A launch-week thread asked what sits in the top right. Steam did not print a lore plaque for that corner. Honest reading:

  • UI chrome (resource stacks, a mini objective, a fog leftover) can occupy a corner that looks like land.
  • A later named place may live off the starting keep. Hover anything that looks clickable. Crownhold still hides upgrades on hover, including map objects.
  • Do not assume the top right is a fourth monument. Monuments are a set of three — three monuments.

If your client labels that corner, believe the tooltip. This wiki will not invent a dungeon name to fill a screenshot.

Named late places

After expansion 10 the map grows verbs that look like travel:

  • Guarded Pass — cross it (Break the Guarded Pass, about 64.8% in the same snapshot).
  • Thorndale and Ashford — achievement titles for walls and ashes.
  • Ironbridge — players report a Shatter Ironbridge beat with no continue option when the siege UI stalls. That is a warfare-panel problem, not a missing fog tile. Hover the siege, look for a continue or next-stage control, update past the 18 August endgame patch, then write support if the prompt never appears. Details sit on siege and warfare.
  • Foreign countries from expedition ships — Spice Isles, Merchant Republic, Emerald Coast, Golden Harbor in recorded trade play. The Known World (all known countries, about 72.5%) is the exploration finish line short of Chronicle Complete.

Royal City is a tooltip name from v1.0.2, not a second Steam app. Treat it as a late settlement or doctrine target on vassals and Royal City.

How to use the map in a session

Keep the camera moving. Hover workplaces. After each expansion, pan west for the tomb, then along the coast for the harbor, then along any new road for villages. When a banner names a pass or a bridge, you are in the late atlas. Do not prestige a map that just grew a named wall because a monument looked like a reset button — how to prestige and three monuments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Crownhold questions.

Where is the Dynasty Tomb?

On the western island, per Steam. Pan west once ships or a reveal exist. We do not publish a fake coordinate.

Why are there no trees yet?

Forestry unlocks late at the university/guild. Empty countryside before wood is normal. If trees vanish after they existed, restart and verify files.

What is in the top right of the map?

Steam did not print a plaque. Hover the corner, distinguish UI chrome from land, and do not treat it as a fourth monument.

Is Ironbridge a map bug?

Players report a Shatter Ironbridge siege with no continue control. Update, hover the warfare panel, then see the siege guide. It is not a missing fog tile.
